In fact, we might as well get things off to a good start by adding a heaping dose of synchronicity: just as I was sitting down to write this piece, my phone inexplicably lit up, then shut itself off completely, and restarted. I usually ignore this kind of thing… but for some, it’s enough to keep one’s paranoid fantasies close to the edge for days at a time. With regard to my own situation, this isn’t the only time my phone has appeared to come to life on its own, and activate or deactivate itself arbitrarily. For several months now, I’ve been experiencing a remarkable amount of Keelian weirdness regarding my cellular phone… and in truth, I might as well admit it: I’ve kind of got a history with this sort of thing.

At my blog The Orange Orb, I’ve been posting entries concerning a new project I’m (and my husband, Jim) are working on. A sort of journal/book — or will be, when all is done — about our missing time experiences. And screen memories. You can read what I have up so far here and here.

I read the two entries to Jim earlier this evening. We were discussing the entries, which led to memories from childhood as well as our memories concerning missing time. He doesn’t remember the orange orb sighting the same way I do; he doesn’t remember seeing, at another time, a sliver sphere shaped craft during late day, early evening… but then he said, just out of nowhere:

“I seem to remember a big bird, not something silver. We were into bird watching at that time. [true] Just you pointing out a big bird through the trees, and I wasn’t seeing it, just a shadow …”
Me; “A big one…” [I don't know why I said that; what made me say anything at all about size or a bird shadow; I have no memory of this.]
Jim “A good sized bird, like a hawk. I don’t want to put too much on it because it might be a projection.”
Me “But something made you say that in connection with this.”
Jim: “Now it sort of haunts me that… I’m very interested, what with everything that’s gone on in our lives…”

That’s it, and it isn’t much, and who knows if it means anything or not. I just found it very interesting Jim was so specific about a “big bird” and “a shadow…a good sized bird” out of the blue like that.

Matthew advised me that the story in question concerned a man who had felt curiously compelled to drive late at night to a certain field in Wiltshire many years ago. On doing so, he parked his car and duly, and carefully, began his walk into the depths of the crop. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a large, black, human-like figure appeared in the air over the field.

Right away I thought how much of a mothy vibe this had and of course, Redfern comments on that as well. The fact that this witness “felt curiously compelled to drive late at night to a certain field…” also reminded me of some of those contactees who reported that they felt an urging from elsewhere to drive or go to a specific spot where either sightings of a UFO or telepathic contact with space entities would take place.

Now that is interesting, because last night I was discussing Mothman with my eighty-four year old mother, who wasn’t very familiar with Mothman. (I had brought my copy of Andrew Colvin’s new book Mothman Speaks! to show her; she found the book interesting and wanted to borrow it!) I told her about an incident I had when watching an episode of Paranormal State about Mothman, which included psychic Chip Coffey. (I had anticipated what Coffey was going to say and felt a strong electrical buzzing sensation… more on that will soon appear on Tim Binnal’s site.) Our conversation included interesting thoughts from mom on the military and paranormal events; including Mothman.
